Dwelling in the Deep Well of Righteousness
Therefore do not worry, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added

Matthew 6:31–33
- Understand your righteousness in Christ: It’s a gift, not something you earn.
- Dwell on this truth: Meditate on scriptures, speak affirmations, and pray.
- Experience the benefits: Courage, peace, confidence, and positive expectation.
- Seek His righteousness first: All other things will be added.
- Trust in God’s love and grace: He is on your side.

Life can be a wild ride, can’t it? One minute you’re feeling on top of the world, the next a wave of worry or doubt washes over you, leaving you feeling a little unsteady. Maybe it’s a looming deadline, a strained relationship, or just the general feeling of uncertainty that comes with navigating this crazy world. In those moments, it’s easy to lose sight of something incredibly important: you are righteous in Christ!
This isn’t some empty slogan or a fleeting feeling. It’s a life-changing truth, a cornerstone of our faith. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, we are declared perfectly righteous in God’s eyes. It’s not about our own good deeds (thankfully!), but about His immense grace. We don’t have to earn God’s favor; it’s freely given through His love for us.

But how do we truly grasp this incredible gift and let it transform our lives? The key lies in dwelling on it. Imagine righteousness as a deep, cool well – a source of peace and strength readily available to us. Take some time each day to draw from this well. Here are some ways to do that:
- Meditation: Quiet your mind and reflect on what it means to be righteous in Christ. Read scriptures that speak to this truth, like Romans 5:1 which says, “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Let these words sink deep into your spirit.
- Declaration: Speak these truths out loud! Say things like, “I am a child of God, loved and accepted.” “I stand righteous in His presence.” By verbalizing these affirmations, you reinforce them in your mind and heart.
- Prayer: Talk to God about your struggles and anxieties, but also express your gratitude for the gift of righteousness. Thank Him for His love and grace, and ask for the strength to live according to your new identity in Christ.
Why is this so crucial? Because when you truly understand your position in Christ, it empowers you in incredible ways. Courage floods your heart, replacing fear with a boldness that allows you to face challenges head-on. An unshakable peace settles in your soul, grounding you even in the midst of life’s storms. Your prayers become infused with confidence, knowing you’re talking to a loving Father who wants to bless you beyond measure. You develop a positive expectation for good things to come, trusting in God’s promises and faithfulness.

Think about it: our Heavenly Father knows exactly what we need. He doesn’t want us to be burdened by worry. Instead, He tells us to seek first “His righteousness”—the incredible gift He’s already bestowed upon us. And guess what? When you do that, when you understand your right standing with God, those worries start to melt away. Like butter on a hot day, they simply lose their power over you.
Why? Because if the Almighty God is on your side, who can possibly stand against you (Romans 8:31)? Absolutely no one!
