2 Corinthians 3:18

Hello fellow sojourners, friends in Christ!

It’s with a heart full of warmth and genuine excitement that I want to share a reflection that has been stirring within me, a gentle nudge from the Holy Spirit, I believe. You know, sometimes, in the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it’s easy to lose sight of the incredible, transformative work that Jesus is doing in each of us. I truly believe that He is actively involved in your life, right now, orchestrating a beautiful symphony of grace and redemption.

Perhaps, like many of us, you’ve been carrying a weight, a lingering shadow from the past. It might be a mistake, a regret, a moment of weakness that seems to cling to you, whispering doubts and dragging you down. Those “weights around your feet,” as the original passage so aptly put it, can feel incredibly real, making it difficult to move forward with the joy and freedom that Christ intends for us.

But here’s the beautiful truth, the radiant beacon of hope that I want to share: today is the day for your breakthrough. Yes, right now, in this very moment, God is extending His hand, offering to lift those burdens and set you free. The key, as we’re reminded, is learning to see what God sees. And how do we do that? By fixing our eyes on Jesus.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the distorted reflections of ourselves that the world presents. We look in the mirror, or worse, we look at the opinions of others, and we see a flawed, imperfect image. But God’s perspective is vastly different. He doesn’t see us through the lens of our mistakes or our shortcomings. He sees us through the lens of His Son, Jesus Christ, whose blood has cleansed us and declared us righteous.

Many people, unfortunately, carry a heavy burden of fear, believing that God is a stern judge, waiting to punish them for their sins. This misconception, as the passage rightly points out, leads to a life marked by fear, insecurity, and anxiety. It’s a distorted image of our loving Father, who longs for us to experience His grace and freedom.

Imagine a parent watching their child learn to walk. They don’t focus on the stumbles and falls; they see the potential, the determination, the growing strength. Our Heavenly Father sees us in the same way. He sees our potential, our heart’s desire to follow Him, and He rejoices in every step we take, even when we falter.

The passage highlights the transformative power of beholding Jesus. As 2 Corinthians 3:18 tells us, “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the1 Lord.” This isn’t about striving or performing; it’s about gazing upon the beauty of Jesus, His love, His forgiveness, His abundant grace.

So many of us fall into the trap of thinking that we need to do more, be more, in order to earn God’s love and acceptance. We believe that holiness is achieved through our own efforts, through rigorous self-discipline and outward displays of piety. But the truth is, true holiness is a byproduct of seeing Jesus, of experiencing His grace, of allowing His love to permeate our hearts.

When we truly grasp the depth of His love and the magnitude of His sacrifice, when we understand that He has already purchased our righteousness with His own blood, we are transformed supernaturally. Our hearts are changed from the inside out, not through mere behavior modification, but through a genuine encounter with the living God.

This transformation is not about conforming to a set of rules or trying to fit a mold. It’s about allowing the Holy Spirit to work within us, to reshape us into the image of Christ. It’s about experiencing an “emancipated conscience,” a conscience that is forever freed from the burden of guilt and condemnation.

Think about it: when we truly understand the depth of God’s forgiveness, when we experience the freedom that comes from knowing that our sins are washed away, those addictions lose their grip, those fears dissolve in His perfect love, and the condemnation from our past mistakes is cleansed by His precious blood.

This is the life that God desires for each of us. A life marked by freedom, joy, and an intimate relationship with Him. A life where we can truly see what He sees, where we can experience the fullness of His love and grace.

It’s about a heart that is touched, a soul that is renewed, and a mind that is set free. It is about a journey of grace and redemption. It is about the love of Christ that changes everything.

Now, I understand that sometimes, it’s difficult to see this truth clearly. The world can be noisy, distracting, and filled with messages that contradict God’s truth. That’s why I want to encourage you, my dear friends, to take a step further in your journey of faith.
