The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, and He delights in his way.

Psalm 37:23, NKJV

I was just reflecting on a passage that really resonated with me, and I wanted to share it with you all. It speaks to something I think we all struggle with from time to time – the tension between where we are and where we long to be. We so often get caught up in the destination, right? We dream about that promotion, that healed relationship, that financial breakthrough, that sense of purpose and fulfillment. We envision it so vividly, and we pour our energy into pursuing it, sometimes almost desperately. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing – having goals and dreams is important! It gives us direction and something to strive for.

But what this passage gently reminds us is that life isn’t just about the destination. It’s about the journey. Think about it: most of our lives are spent on the way to something, not actually at the destination. Even when we achieve one goal, there’s always another horizon, another dream waiting to be explored. So, if we’re constantly focused on the future, on what’s next, we risk missing out on the beauty and the lessons of the present.

The passage talks about “bumps in the road, disappointments, things you don’t understand.” And boy, can we relate to that, right? Life throws curveballs. Things don’t always go according to our plans. We face setbacks, we experience pain, we encounter obstacles that seem insurmountable. It’s easy to get discouraged, to feel like we’re wandering in the wilderness, far from the promised land we envisioned. We might even start to question God’s plan, wondering why He’s allowing these difficulties.

But here’s the heart of the matter: God is in the journey with us. He’s not just waiting for us at the finish line; He’s walking alongside us every step of the way. And even those “bumps in the road,” those detours and delays, they’re not random. They’re not a sign that God has forgotten us or abandoned us. In fact, the passage suggests the opposite: “God is ordering your steps.” Think about that for a moment. The Creator of the universe, the one who knows the beginning from the end, He’s actively involved in guiding our lives. He’s not just a distant observer; He’s a loving Father who cares deeply about our well-being and our ultimate destiny.

Now, that doesn’t mean that the journey will always be easy or comfortable. Sometimes, in fact, it will be downright challenging. We might face trials that test our faith, that stretch us beyond our limits, that force us to rely on God in ways we never thought possible. We might even experience betrayals and injustices that leave us wounded and confused. But even in those dark valleys, God is present. He’s using those experiences to shape us, to mold us, to prepare us for the purpose He has in store for us.

The key, I believe, is to shift our perspective. Instead of constantly fighting against the present, instead of rushing through the day just to get to the next thing, we need to learn to embrace the journey. We need to cultivate a spirit of gratitude for the blessings, both big and small, that God has placed in our lives today. We need to find joy in the simple moments, in the everyday experiences, in the relationships that surround us.

The passage wisely says, “Stay in the present. Take it one day at a time.” This is such powerful advice. We often get so overwhelmed by the future, by all the “what ifs” and “maybes,” that we lose sight of the present moment. We worry about tomorrow, we fret about next week, we stress about next year. But the truth is, we only have control over today. And God’s grace, His enabling power, is sufficient for today. As the passage says, “You don’t have grace for tomorrow. You have grace for this present step.”

This resonates deeply with me. I’ve experienced seasons in my own life where I was so focused on the future, on achieving certain goals, that I completely missed out on the joy of the present. I was so busy striving, so busy pushing, so busy trying to make things happen, that I forgot to simply be. I forgot to appreciate the blessings that God had already placed in my life. And it wasn’t until I learned to slow down, to breathe, to focus on the present moment, that I truly began to experience the peace and joy that God has promised us.

It’s a process, of course. It’s not something that happens overnight. We have to intentionally cultivate this mindset, this way of living. We have to practice gratitude, we have to learn to trust in God’s plan, even when we don’t understand it. We have to remind ourselves that He is working all things together for our good, even the difficult things, even the painful things.

And one of the ways we can do that is by connecting with God daily, by spending time in His Word, by praying, and by reflecting on His goodness. This is where Moralisee.com comes in.
