My friends, the Bible warns us that we are engaged in a spiritual battle. The devil, cunning and relentless like a skilled bird-catcher, sets traps to ensnare us. He seeks to steal our joy, extinguish our hope, and ultimately destroy our lives, as Jesus himself declared (John 10:10).
We must understand that the world we inhabit is marred by sin. Adam’s disobedience opened the door for the devil, granting him dominion over this fallen realm (Ephesians 2:2). This explains the prevalence of suffering – accidents, illnesses, and the tragedies that afflict us. It can feel overwhelming, casting a long shadow over our lives.
But amidst this darkness, a beacon of hope shines brightly. Our Lord Jesus Christ is returning, and upon His return, He will utterly defeat all His enemies, including death itself (1 Corinthians 15:26). Until that glorious day, we may encounter increasing darkness in the world. Yet, as believers, we need not succumb to fear. We are citizens of heaven, our true home, and we are not fully of this world (John 17:16).
The devil remains active, constantly seeking opportunities to ensnare us. Every day, we hear of devastating events – bombings, shootings, and the spread of disease. It’s easy to become discouraged, to feel overwhelmed by the weight of the world’s suffering. However, we must never forget that we have a Savior who is infinitely more powerful. He has promised to deliver us from the snares of the enemy and to protect us from harm.
The truth is, we need our Savior’s presence and guidance every single day. Let us invite Him into every aspect of our lives. He is our strength, our refuge, and our unwavering guide. Only in Him can we find true safety and security.
