2 Corinthians 3:18

What is the value of seeing Jesus?

This question touches the core of our faith. When we talk about “seeing Jesus,” we’re not just referring to a physical vision, but to focusing on Him in our hearts and minds. The value of this focus is transformative—it changes our perspective and brings divine power into our everyday circumstances.

  • Focus on Jesus: Keeping your eyes on Jesus helps you rise above life’s storms.
  • Peter’s Miracle: Peter walked on water by focusing on Jesus.
  • Transformation: Looking to Jesus transforms you into His image, bringing peace and strength.
  • Real-life Testimony: A woman experienced healing by focusing on Jesus’ presence in her life.
  • Practical Faith: Focusing on Jesus brings practical solutions and divine guidance.
  • Daily Devotions: Reading daily devotions can help keep your focus on Jesus.

How does this put money in your bank account and food on your table?

Believers often wonder how their faith in Jesus can meet their practical needs, like finances and daily sustenance. When we keep our eyes on Jesus, we align ourselves with His wisdom and guidance, which often leads to making better decisions in our work and personal lives. This doesn’t mean money magically appears, but that our faith can lead to opportunities, favor, and provision in unexpected ways.

How does this help your children in their studies?

When children see their parents living a faith-focused life, it instills values like perseverance, integrity, and a positive outlook. These qualities are crucial for academic success. Moreover, praying for and with your children, asking for Jesus’ guidance, can bring peace and focus to their studies.

The story of Peter walking on water (Matthew 14:22–33)

Let’s look at the example of Peter, one of Jesus’ disciples. In Matthew 14:22–33, we read about a night when Peter experienced a miracle. His boat was caught in a storm in the middle of a lake. As a seasoned fisherman, the logical thing to do was to stay in the boat. Science tells us that stepping into the water means sinking. But that night, something extraordinary happened.

Peter saw Jesus walking on the water and, at Jesus’ command, he stepped out of the boat and walked on water too! As long as Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, he did the impossible. The moment he looked away and focused on the storm, he began to sink. This teaches us that when we focus on Jesus, we can rise above life’s challenges.

Transformation through beholding Jesus

The Bible tells us, “We all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 3:18). This means that by continually looking to Jesus, we are gradually transformed to be more like Him. His peace, wisdom, and strength become ours.

Example from a church member

Let me share a powerful testimony from a lady in our church, Trinity Christian Centre. She had a mammogram, and doctors found lumps in her breast. They scheduled further tests to check if they were cancerous. This lady, remembering the teaching that “as Jesus is, so are we in this world,” wrote on her medical report, “Does Jesus have lumps in His breast? As He is, so am I in this world.”

When she returned for the biopsy, the doctors found no lumps at all. They were amazed, but she knew it was because she had kept her focus on Jesus. This is a real-life example of the transformative power of looking to Jesus.

The practicality of focusing on Jesus

You might think that focusing on Jesus is impractical when facing real-world problems. But I challenge you to see that it is the most practical thing you can do. When you keep your eyes on Jesus, you become more like Him—full of health, strength, wisdom, and life. This isn’t about ignoring problems but facing them with the assurance that Jesus is with you, guiding you, and working miracles in your life.

In summary, the value of seeing Jesus lies in the transformation that occurs within us, enabling us to rise above life’s storms. By keeping our focus on Him, we find practical solutions, peace, and strength for every challenge we face. So, keep your eyes on Jesus, and watch how He transforms your life from glory to glory.

As we’ve explored, keeping our eyes on Jesus can transform our lives in remarkable ways. It’s not just a spiritual exercise; it’s a practical approach to overcoming challenges and living a life full of grace, wisdom, and strength.
