Feeling insecure? Discover how God’s unfailing love offers constant protection, regardless of our shortcomings. Explore the power of grace in this encouraging message.
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.”
Psalm 91:14
Today, a question that weighs heavy on many hearts: is God’s protection conditional on our own perfection?
- God’s love and protection aren’t earned, they’re freely given through grace.
- Jesus Christ fulfilled the requirements we couldn’t, securing God’s love for us.
- Our love for God fluctuates, but His for us remains constant.
- We can rely on God’s unwavering protection because of His character, not our actions.

You might have heard teachings that paint God’s love and protection as a reward for perfect obedience. It feels like a cosmic game show – follow all the rules, win God’s favor, maybe get a shield from life’s troubles.

Let me tell you, that kind of teaching can leave you feeling like a hamster on a spinning wheel, working tirelessly but never quite reaching the finish line. Because, let’s be honest, none of us are saints. We all make mistakes, our devotion wavers, and that can feel like a deal-breaker for divine security.
But friends, the beauty of God’s love is that it’s the exact opposite of a fickle human relationship. It’s constant, unfailing, and the foundation of what we call grace.

Remember that verse, “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him” (Psalm 91:14)? Some folks might read that and think, “Oh no, gotta be super lovable to deserve that!” But that’s not what it means at all!
See, God knew from the beginning that we could never perfectly follow all His laws. That’s why He sent His Son, Jesus Christ. It’s like God saying, “You can’t fully love Me the way I deserve, so let Me shower you with My love instead.”

Isn’t that beautiful? The Gospel tells the story of this incredible, sacrificial love. God loved the world so much, He sacrificed His only Son to save us. Jesus lived a perfect life, fulfilling all the requirements we couldn’t. So even when our love for Him stumbles, even when we fall short, His protection remains!
Think of it this way: imagine a child lost in a dark forest. The child is scared, lost, and calling out for help. A loving parent hears the cries and rushes in, not because the child performed perfectly, but because of the parent’s unwavering love. That’s the kind of love God has for us.
Here’s another verse that captures this perfectly: “This is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins” (1 John 4:10). See, it’s all about His love for us, not the other way around.

Does that mean loving God isn’t important? Absolutely not! But our love is a response to His amazing grace. His love is the steady sun, ours is the little plant that grows towards its light. The Bible says, “the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases” (Lamentations 3:22).
Friends, we are under a new covenant – a promise of God’s incredible, unwavering love. We can rest assured in His protection, not because of our own efforts, but because of His character – a character defined by unfailing love.
So hold onto that truth, my friends. God’s love surrounds you, protects you, and will never let you go. No matter what storms you face, know that you are eternally loved and eternally secure in His grace.
