Power of Faith: A Guide to God’s Unmerited Favor
Discover the secret to experiencing God’s unmerited favor. Learn how to unlock the power of faith and believe that you are highly favored by God. Grow in wisdom and stature, just like Jesus did.
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Romans 5:1–2
- Faith is the key to accessing God’s favor.
- Believe that you are greatly blessed, highly favored, and deeply loved by God.
- Speak positive affirmations about yourself.
- Study scriptures that affirm God’s love and favor.
- Spend time in prayer and meditation.

Today, we’re taking a deep dive into a passage that speaks volumes about growing closer to God: Luke 2:52 tells us that Jesus himself “increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.” Just like Jesus, the Bible tells us we too can experience this growth – not just in wisdom, but also in God’s amazing, unmerited favor.
Now, some of you might be wondering, “Why does it seem like some believers experience more favor than others?”
Here’s the key: faith.
Romans 5:2 unlocks this secret: “we have access by faith into this grace [unmerited favor] in which we stand.” Think of it like a key that unlocks a door. To access your computer or bank account, you need the right code. In this case, the “key” to God’s favor is believing YOU are highly favored!

But how can we truly believe that? Let’s unpack this concept further:
- Greatly Blessed: Hebrews 6:13-14 tells us God wants us to be anchored in the knowledge of His blessings. He promised Abraham, “Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.” That promise extends to us too! Imagine the security of knowing God actively desires to shower you with blessings.
- Highly Favored: Ephesians 1:6, in the original Greek, uses the word “charitoo” for “accepted,” which actually means “highly favored.” God sees us with favor through His grace! This isn’t just a head-knowledge concept; it’s a heart-felt understanding that you are chosen and precious in His sight.
- Deeply Loved: John 3:16 is a cornerstone verse: “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.” The greatest demonstration of His love is Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. When we truly grasp the depth of this love, it transforms our relationship with God. We move from a distant respect to a place of intimate connection and belonging.
These verses are powerful reminders that through Jesus, we are truly blessed, favored, and loved.
But what if you still struggle to believe this?
Here’s a powerful practice: Start declaring it! Every morning, look in the mirror and say with confidence, “Because of Jesus’ perfect work on the cross, I am righteous by His blood, and I am greatly blessed, highly favored, and deeply loved! I expect good things to come my way. I expect good success and I have a confident expectation of good!”
By speaking these truths, you’re planting seeds of faith in your heart. With time, they’ll blossom into a confident belief in God’s unfailing love and favor for you. Faith is a journey, not a destination. There will be ups and downs, but by anchoring yourself in God’s Word and declaring His promises, you can grow closer to Him and experience increased favor in your life.
