Growing in Faith, Growing in Healing

This article explores the biblical concept of gradual healing, drawing parallels to a farmer’s patience. It encourages readers to trust in God’s timing and find rest in His promises, knowing that complete healing is on the way.

Jesus also said, “The Kingdom of God is like a farmer who scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, while he’s asleep or awake, the seed sprouts and grows, but he does not understand how it happens. The earth produces the crops on its own. First a leaf blade pushes through, then the heads of wheat are formed, and finally the grain ripens.

Mark 4:26–28 NLT
  • Embrace the Process: Healing is a journey, not a destination. Celebrate every step of progress.
  • Cultivate Patience: Just as a farmer waits for the harvest, we must patiently await God’s perfect timing.
  • Trust in God’s Plan: Release your anxieties about the “how” and “when” of healing and trust in God’s sovereignty.
  • Find Rest in God: Let go of worry and find peace in knowing that God is in control.
  • Seek Encouragement: Connect with others and find support in your journey of faith and healing.

Have you ever wondered why God doesn’t heal us instantly? We pray, we believe, but sometimes it feels like our healing is taking forever. The truth is, God’s work in our lives often unfolds just like the growth of a seed.

The passage from Mark 4:8 (NLT) reminds us that a seed doesn’t sprout into a full head of wheat overnight. There’s a process: first the blade, then the head, and finally the full grain. Just like the farmer patiently waits for his harvest, we too need to be patient with our healing.

Don’t Get Discouraged!

It’s easy to get discouraged when we see only partial healing. We might think, “Why is this taking so long?” But friend, don’t give up! The verse also tells us about the different yields a farmer might experience: thirtyfold, sixtyfold, and finally, the hundredfold.

Think of this in terms of your healing. You might be experiencing some improvement, maybe 30% better than before. That’s fantastic! But don’t stop there. Trust in God’s goodness and believe for the remaining 60%, and then the full 100% healing.

Resting in God’s Faithfulness

We often worry about the “how” and “when” of our healing. But the scripture tells us to be like the farmer who goes to sleep at night. He doesn’t stay up all night fretting about the harvest. He trusts that God will take care of it.

In the same way, we can rest in God’s faithfulness. He knows what’s best for us, and He will bring us to complete healing in His perfect timing.
